About the Artist

Emerging on the Seattle scene in 2018, Ghoul Talk's debut 3-song EP "Magician" was released April 23, 2021 and quickly became a national college radio cult classic.

As the solo project of musician and visual artist Rachel King, Ghoul Talk later expanded its artistic offerings to include original films and drag performance. Ghoul Talk's 2024 horror concept album "I Want to Consume" was acclaimed for its diverse songwriting, introspective lyricism, and storytelling. Accompanied by an original drag horror film shot on a Camano Island alpaca farm, "I Want to Consume" is Ghoul Talk's most ambitious project to date.

Ghoul Talk's lush and charmingly eerie sound is influenced heavily by the riot grrrl movement, as well as classic Pacific Northwest grunge and noise rock. The origin of the band name "Ghoul Talk" is an homage to one of Rachel King's favorite childhood riot grrrl albums, "Girl Talk" by Kate Nash. She also credits Japandroids, Carissa's Wierd, and My Chemical Romance as a few artists heavily influential to Ghoul Talk.

Rachel King is a multi-instrumentalist with focus on the guitar, piano, and theremin. Ghoul Talk is presented by Rachel King's independent label Death Certificate Records.

Rachel lives in Seattle, Washington. When she is not working on Ghoul Talk, she enjoys cooking, horror movies, and spending time with her cat Pudding Bear.

Vision

Ghoul Talk's vision is to create art that connects with the feminine experience. Ghoul Talk seeks to create horror through the female gaze.
